Steps

1Transcribe the speech

Click AI Speech to Text, set the Audio source and Language, then click Create.

The PowerDirector AI Speech to Text dialog with the Audio source and Language dropdowns boxed and the Create button boxed at the bottom right.

2Fix the words

Click a line to edit it. Press Enter for a line break and Esc to save your change.

To fix a name throughout, open Find and Replace at the top of the subtitle list and click Replace All.

The PowerDirector Find and Replace dialog with the Find and Replace with fields filled in and the Replace and Replace All buttons highlighted.

3Fix the timing and the breaks

Drag a subtitle on the timeline to move it, and drag its edge to change its length. Or click its Start Time and type a value.

To divide a run-on line, select it and click Split subtitle at the top of the subtitle list. Or press its shortcut, Ctrl + Enter.

The Split subtitle button highlighted at the top of the PowerDirector subtitle list, with a tooltip showing the Ctrl plus Enter shortcut.

4Style the subtitles

Click Properties in the left panel to set font, color, border, and shadow. Or take a ready-made look from the Preset row.

With Apply to all subtitles checked at the bottom of the panel, your changes apply to every subtitle's look and position.

Properties boxed in the left panel of the PowerDirector Subtitles room, and the Apply to all subtitles checkbox highlighted at the bottom of the panel.

We tested these steps in PowerDirector 365 version 24.0.10 on Windows.
