Four steps to build a zoom-in, hold it, and come back out.

Steps

1Mark where the move starts

Put the playhead there and click Add Keyframe. If the move starts at the very beginning of the clip, one is already there.

The Add Keyframe button in the Pan / Zoom window

2Move on, then shrink the blue box

Park the playhead where the zoom should finish and drag the blue focus area in. The keyframe is added for you.

The blue focus area still covering the whole frame, with the playhead moved to where the zoom ends

3Duplicate the keyframe where the zoom-out starts

Park the playhead where the zoom-out should begin, click Duplicate Keyframe, and choose Duplicate from Previous Keyframe.

Two keyframes with the same values keep the shot still, and different values make it move.

The Duplicate Keyframe menu in the Pan / Zoom window, with Duplicate from Previous Keyframe highlighted

4Widen the blue box where the zoom-out ends

Move the playhead to where the shot should be wide again, drag the blue area back out, and click OK to save.

The blue focus area widened back out at the end of the zoom-out, with the OK button highlighted at the bottom right of the Pan / Zoom window

We tested these steps in PowerDirector 365 version 23.5 on Windows.
