Steps

1Find the project

Pick a saved project from My Projects on the Media tab.

The Media tab and My Projects boxed at the top left of PowerDirector.

Or click the Import Project button next to the search box to add a project file from disk.

The Import Project button boxed at the top left of the My Projects panel in PowerDirector, next to the search box, above the saved projects.

2Drag the project in and check the label

Drag the project onto the timeline, and a pds label on the clip tells you it's a nested project.

To nest projects by default, click the gear icon at the top right for Preferences. On the Editing tab, set Set default insert project behavior to As Nested Project.

The Editing tab and the Set default insert project behavior dropdown boxed in PowerDirector Preferences, the dropdown reading As Expanded Project.

3Open the nested project

Double-click the clip to open the nested project's own timeline. Or click its project tab above the timeline.

4Make your changes

Edit it on its own timeline like any project.

Changes apply to this project only. The original project file is not modified, so the same intro can carry a different line in every episode.

5Go back to the main project

When you're done, click the main project's tab above the timeline to come back out. The nested clip now shows your edit and still sits on the timeline as a single clip.
